Edition #5 : The Becoming Human Manifesto - The Art of Gratitude
Gratitude isn’t a holiday thing. It’s not a season. It’s a way of BEING.

<h3><strong>🔓 Opening Reflection</strong></h3><p>Gratitude isn’t a holiday thing. It’s not a season. It’s a way of BEING.</p><p>A way of slowing down long enough to remember that the world keeps moving because people keep showing up.</p><p>Especially the ones who rarely get celebrated. The ones behind the screens. The ones answering tickets, calls, messages. The ones holding customers through the chaos of Black Friday and Cyber Monday while the world rushes for deals.</p><p>This week, I’ve been thinking about <strong>gratitude as an act of recognition</strong>.... a way of saying:</p><blockquote><p>“I see you. I see your effort. I see what it takes to hold everything together.”</p></blockquote><p>Gratitude is how we stay human in a world that asks us to sprint.</p><hr><h3><strong>🔦 Signal of the Week</strong></h3><p><strong>“The people who keep the world running rarely get the applause.”</strong></p><p>Support teams. On-call engineers. Account managers juggling panicked emails. Leaders holding space for nervous customers. People stepping in on their day off because someone needed help.</p><p>They don’t go viral. There’s no trending hashtag for them.</p><p>But without them, these high-pressure weeks fall apart.</p><p>Black Friday success isn’t magic. It’s human endurance. Human patience. Human skill.</p><p><strong>It’s people. Always people.</strong></p><p>And gratitude is the least.... and also the most..... we can offer.</p><hr><h3><strong>💬 The Big Question</strong></h3><p><strong>When was the last time you told someone, “I’m grateful for you,” and meant it with your whole heart?</strong></p><p>And an even deeper one:</p><p><strong>When was the last time you said it to yourself?</strong></p><hr><h3><strong>🧠 Human Moment</strong></h3><p>This week, we will have teams watching the chaos unfold in real time because of the busy holiday season, support queues spike, calls double, issues fly in faster than answers, I found myself thinking of the humans behind every response.</p><p>The ones who take a breath before every frustrated customer. The ones who choose grace over reaction. The ones who get blamed for problems they didn’t cause but stay anyway to help solve them.</p><p>I’ve been in rooms where people are praised for innovation, and the support team was barely mentioned.</p><p>But here’s the truth:</p><blockquote><p><strong>The heartbeat of every company isn’t its roadmap. It’s the humans who show up when things break.</strong></p></blockquote><p>And today and always, I’m grateful for every single one of them.</p><hr><h3><strong>🛠️ Build Together</strong></h3><p>If you lead a team, this is your moment:</p><p></p><ul><li><p><strong>Say thank you — not performatively, but personally</strong></p></li><li><p><strong>Tell people specifically what you noticed in them</strong></p></li><li><p><strong>Name the effort, not just the outcome</strong></p></li><li><p><strong>Celebrate invisible work</strong></p></li><li><p><strong>Check in on the humans, not the metrics</strong></p></li></ul><p></p><p>Gratitude is a muscle. The more you use it, the more human your culture becomes.</p><p>📩 Who are <em>you</em> grateful for this week? Reply. Tag them. Tell them.</p><hr><h3><strong>🎙️ This Week’s Episode</strong></h3><p><strong>🎧 Ep. 14 – Recruit to Retain in the Age of AI</strong></p><p><strong>Guest:</strong> <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="text-[#4FD1C5] underline hover:opacity-80 ember-view" href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/janicelitvin/"><strong>Janice Litvin</strong></a></p><p><strong><em>You can’t retain people you never truly "saw" in the first place</em></strong>.</p><p>In this conversation, we explore:</p><p></p><ul><li><p>Why burnout is deeply connected to belonging</p></li><li><p>Why people leave when they feel unseen</p></li><li><p>How recruiting with heart reduces burnout later</p></li><li><p>The psychology behind retention, culture, and care</p></li><li><p>Why AI can support workflow — but never replace warmth</p></li></ul><p></p><p>🎧 Listen or watch now:</p><p></p><ul><li><p>Spotify → <a target="_self" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="text-[#4FD1C5] underline hover:opacity-80 jFyrVBZmOJTVoHJvKvUZeDCVoBSSacnHLLmEXDw " href="https://open.spotify.com/episode/0o7U810RWUAB7cF2064Ejg?si=Nbj9rd7lTzqkhd8zbuFuow"><strong>Watch Now</strong></a></p></li><li><p>Apple Podcasts → <a target="_self" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="text-[#4FD1C5] underline hover:opacity-80 jFyrVBZmOJTVoHJvKvUZeDCVoBSSacnHLLmEXDw " href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-human-protocol/id1843402023"><strong>Listen Now</strong></a></p></li><li><p>YouTube → <a target="_self" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="text-[#4FD1C5] underline hover:opacity-80 jFyrVBZmOJTVoHJvKvUZeDCVoBSSacnHLLmEXDw " href="https://youtu.be/x10dSYfNQpo?si=YuU7lREmxc7VEDmw"><strong>Watch Now</strong></a></p></li></ul><p></p><img class="max-w-full h-auto rounded-md my-4" src="https://media.licdn.com/dms/image/v2/D4E12AQHNe4sdtAKpZQ/article-inline_image-shrink_1000_1488/B4EZrHkqD4HMAU-/0/1764284870555?e=1772064000&v=beta&t=6Po-fBUlwzowBPizo4yHTwZym1cf4aC4BENi9X3yFCQ" alt="Article content"><p>Recruit to Retain</p><hr><h3><strong>🧭 Thought to End the Week With</strong></h3><p><strong>“Gratitude is how we remember each other.
